CSC international student admission guide

The CSC Bilateral Program offers full or partial scholarships to international students through agreements between the Chinese government and foreign governments, institutions, or organizations. This guide will walk you through the funding, eligibility, application process, and required documents for 2025.


📌 1. Scholarship Categories & Duration

The program supports the following categories:

  • Undergraduate students (4–5 years)
  • Master’s students (3 years)
  • PhD students (4 years)
  • General scholars (1 year)
  • Senior scholars (1 year)

Language of instruction: Chinese or English, depending on the program list.


🧾 2. What’s Included in the Scholarship?

Full Scholarship Includes:

  • Tuition
  • Accommodation
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance
  • Monthly Stipend:
    • Undergraduate: ¥2,500
    • Master’s: ¥3,000
    • PhD: ¥3,500
    • General Scholar: ¥3,000
    • Senior Scholar: ¥3,500

Partial Scholarship: Covers one or more items from the above.


🛂 3. Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens and in good health
  • Meet age and academic qualifications:
    • High school grads (under 25) for bachelor’s
    • Bachelor’s degree (under 35) for master’s
    • Master’s degree (under 40) for PhD
    • Scholars under 45 (general) or 50 (senior)
  • Meet language requirements (HSK, IELTS, or TOEFL where applicable)

📅 4. Application Process

Step 1: Contact your home country’s dispatching department (often Chinese embassy or consulate) for timeline and agency number.

Step 2: Email documents (CV, transcript, proposal, etc.) to your preferred Chinese university (e.g., CSU) to get a Pre-admission Letter.

Step 3: Register and apply via the official CSC portal:

Step 4: Submit hard copies of all application documents to your country’s dispatching department before the deadline.

📌 Note: CSC does not accept direct personal applications.


📑 5. Required Documents

  1. CSC Application Form
  2. Passport Copy (valid 1+ year)
  3. Degree Certificate or Pre-graduation Proof
  4. Transcripts (with official English/Chinese translation)
  5. Language Certificate (HSK/IELTS/TOEFL)
  6. Study Plan (200–800 words depending on level)
  7. Physical Examination Form
  8. Non-criminal Record
  9. Two Recommendation Letters (Professors/Associate Professors)
  10. Guardian Guarantee (if under 18)
  11. Artwork Portfolio (for music/art applicants)

📬 6. Admission & Notification

  • CSC and universities will assess applications.
  • Results and documents (admission letter, JW201 visa form) will be sent via embassies.
  • No changes are allowed after admission.
  • Students must arrive on time; late arrivals will forfeit the scholarship.
