Established in 2012, NYU Shanghai is a unique Sino-American joint venture between New York University and East China Normal University, located in the dynamic city of Shanghai, China. Program Overview

Undergraduate Programs:

Scholarships and Deadlines

1. Merit-Based Scholarships:

  • Coverage: Partial to full-tuition scholarships awarded based on academic excellence, leadership, and extracurricular involvement.
  • Application Process: All applicants are automatically considered; no separate application is required.

2. Need-Based Financial Aid:

  • Coverage: Assistance determined by demonstrated financial need, which may include grants, loans, and work-study opportunities.
  • Application Process: Submission of the CSS Profile is required to assess financial need.

3. External Scholarships:

  • Opportunities: Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships from external organizations to supplement their financial resources.

Note: Application deadlines align with admission application timelines. For Early Decision I, the deadline is November 1; for Early Decision II and Regular Decision, it is January 1. Specific dates may vary annually; refer to the official NYU Shanghai admissions page for the most current information.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Qualifications:
    • Undergraduate Programs: High school diploma or equivalent with a strong academic record.
    • Graduate Programs: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution relevant to the chosen field of study.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • English: Proficiency demonstrated through standardized tests such as TOEFL or IELTS, unless exempted by prior education in English-speaking institutions.
  • Standardized Tests:
    • Undergraduate Applicants: SAT or ACT scores are optional but can enhance the application.
    • Graduate Applicants: GRE or GMAT scores may be required, depending on the program.
