Scholarships

Donghua University offers multiple scholarships to support outstanding international students:

  • Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS):
    • Covers tuition, accommodation, living stipend, and medical insurance.
    • Apply through the Chinese Embassy or Donghua University.
  • Shanghai Government Scholarship:
    • Provides full or partial tuition waivers to exceptional students.
    • Applications are handled through Donghua University during the admission process.
  • Donghua University President Scholarship:
    • Awarded to high-achieving students, offering full or partial tuition support.
  • Confucius Institute Scholarship:
    • For students specializing in Chinese language and culture studies.
    • Includes tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Nationality: Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
  • Educational Background:
    • Undergraduate: High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Master’s: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • Doctoral: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • Chinese-Taught Programs: HSK Level 4 or above (HSK Level 5 or 6 preferred for advanced programs). Applicants without the required language proficiency will need to enroll in a Chinese language preparatory program before starting their degree.
    • English-Taught Programs: TOEFL (≥80) or IELTS (≥6.0). Exemptions may apply for students whose prior education was conducted in English.

    • Academic transcripts and graduation certificates.
    • A personal statement or study plan.
    • Portfolio of creative works (if required by the program).
    • Two recommendation letters (for graduate programs).
    • Passport copy and a recent photo.
    • Proof of language proficiency (if available).
  3. Application Fee:
    • Non-refundable fee of RMB 800.
  4. Submission Deadline:
    • Ensure all documents are submitted by the deadline.
