  • Deadline: Typically from mid-November to late February (of the following year).

2. Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS):

  • What’s Covered: Full or partial tuition fee waivers along with additional benefits.
  • Deadline: Usually from mid-November to mid-April.

3. Shanghai University International Student Scholarship:

  • What’s Covered: Tuition waivers and living stipends awarded based on academic excellence.
  • Deadline: Announced per the academic calendar on the official university website.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities:

  • Departmental or Faculty-Specific Scholarships: Awards provided by individual colleges within the university based on specific academic achievements.
  • Academic Excellence Awards: Recognitions for outstanding performance throughout the course of study.
  • Research Grants: Funding available for graduate students to support innovative projects and advanced research initiatives.

Eligibility Requirements

For Undergraduate Applicants:

  • Documentation: Must have a valid foreign passport and a recognized high school diploma.
  • Language Requirements:
    • Chinese-taught Programs: HSK 4 or higher. (Applicants without an HSK certificate may enroll in a preparatory language course offered by the university.)
    • English-taught Programs: IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 70.

For Graduate Applicants:

  • Documentation: Must hold a bachelor’s degree (for master’s programs) or a master’s degree (for doctoral programs) from a recognized institution.
  • Language Requirements:
    • Chinese-taught Programs: HSK 5 or higher. (Language courses are available for those without certification.)
    • English-taught Programs: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80.

General Requirements:

  • Applicants should be in good health.
  • International scholarships are typically available only to non-Chinese citizens.

Application Procedure

  1. Online Application:
    • Complete the application form via the Shanghai University International Student Admissions portal.
  2. Submit Required Documents:
    • Academic Documents: Scanned copies of transcripts and degree certificates.
    • Identity Proof: Valid passport copy.
    • Language Proficiency: HSK/IELTS/TOEFL scores or proof of completed language courses.
    • Personal Statement: Outlining academic and career goals.
    • Recommendations: Letters of recommendation (required for graduate applicants).
  3. Pay the Application Fee:
    • Follow the payment instructions provided on the university’s website (usually available for online payment or bank transfer).
  4. Admission Review:
